Bulldog Linksters In Third Place At Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate

AUBURN, Ala. -- The Mississippi State men's golf team fired a first-round 289 (+1) Friday, good enough for third place at the Auburn-hosted Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate. The Bulldogs are five strokes off of the lead, held by Auburn. Florida State is currently holding down the second-place position, one shot ahead of MSU.
Joe Deraney fired a two-under-par 70 to finish in a tie for third place, one shot behind first-round leaders Kevin Haefner of Auburn and Andy Smith of SE Louisiana. Codie Mudd is currently two shots out of the lead after shooting a one-under-par 71. Kellen Maurer and Tim Satow each fired a 74, and Craig Horrocks shot an 83 to round out the scoring for State.
The three-round competition will continue Saturday and Sunday.
