MSU Lady Netters Close Road Trip With No. 2 Georgia
May 25, 2016 | Women's Tennis
The Lady Dogs from Starkville head into the contest looking to rebound from a 7-0 loss to Tennessee Friday in Knoxville that dropped head coach Tracy Lane's squad to 4-12 overall and 0-7 in conference play on the season.
Georgia, on the other hand, held on for a 4-3 win over Mississippi Friday afternoon to improve to 17-1, 7-0 in SEC play, and remain just a game behind top-ranked Florida for the SEC's Eastern Division lead.
Sunday's match will be State's second against a foe ranked No. 2 nationally. The Lady Bulldogs dropped a 5-1 decision to Florida on Mar. 3 when the Lady Gators were ranked second in the nation.
UGA has dominated the series with MSU, winning all 22 meetings between the two schools. Last season the third-ranked Lady Bulldogs held off then-No. 41 Mississippi State 4-3 in Athens.
Following the Easter Sunday dual match, MSU returns to A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre for a Apr. 5 matchup with SEC Western Division rival LSU. The Super Bulldog Week battle is set for a 2:30 p.m. contest on the MSU campus.
