
Meydrich Clinches First With Third-Best Time In MSU History

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Running the third-best time in the 5000m run in Mississippi State history, Mia Meydrich finished first with a time of 16:35.00 at the Florida Relays Thursday night.
This was Meydrich's first time running the event this season. Competing alongside Meydrich was freshman Shannon Fair, also running the event for the first time. Fair recorded a time of 16:52.59 to place seventh.
“We captured a couple strong wins today and saw lots of personal bests,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “These athletes came out strong wanting to compete tonight, and I hope we continue to carry this momentum into the rest of the weekend.”
All together Thursday, the Bulldogs brought home three wins and three personal bests.
Earning a first-place victory for the second week in a row, sophomore Curtis Thompson threw 249-00 in the javelin.
Recording a personal-best time, Rasheed Tatham placed first collegiately in the 400m dash with a time of 47.40.
Charles Taylor recorded a personal-best showing of 21.09 in the 200m dash to begin the day for the Bulldogs. He earned 17th overall and fourth collegiately.
Also representing MSU on the track was Dustin James II. James II ran a time of 53.81 to bring home an 11th-place finish
Concluding day one on the track were distance runners Andrew Monaghan and JT Mackay in the men's 5000m run. Monaghan ran a time of 15:02.85 to clinch 26th, while Mackay placed 39th after posting a time of 15:22.85.
Day two of the Florida Relays is set to begin with Tiffany Flynn and Leah Lott in the 100m hurdles at 11:15 a.m. CT, while Seth Peace will kick off field action with the men's high jump at noon.
