Baik Finishes Top 20 To Lead MSU In Final Round
March 06, 2016 | Women's Golf
Hilton Head, S.C. – In the final day of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, the Mississippi State women's golf team was led by junior Ji Eun Baik for the second day in a row.
Baik fired a 73 to place tied for 17th, while as a team MSU posted a 309 to finish tied for 15th in a field that featured 12 of the Top 50 teams in the nation. Alabama, ranked No. 4 nationally, won the tournament.
Baik had a similar start to Saturday's second round by paring the first hole of the day and going on to finish her first nine holes with a 36.
“The course was tough today with some crazy pin locations, so I tried to play smart and keep the score low,” Baik said. “This was a fun but challenging course so I tried to enjoy the challenge as much as I could.”
Behind Baik was Izel Pieters and Bianca Theron, who were both able to notch one birdie Sunday en route to 78's on the day.
Jessica Peng fired an 80, while Katie Holt ended the day with an 82. After a tough front nine, she found a rhythm and finished the last nine only 2-over-par.
The Bulldogs will be back in action for the Tiger Classic hosted by LSU, slated for March 20-22.
