Follett-Smith, Bell Nab Top 20 Finishes At The Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate

MOBILE, ALA – Battling wet conditions, the duo of Ben Follett-Smith and Ross Bell placed in a tie for 17th leading to the Mississippi State men's golf team an eighth place finish at the Mobile Sports Authority intercollegiate.
As a team, MSU shot a final round 289. Follett-Smith led the way, shooting an even par 72 over the last 18 holes to grab his third top 20 finish on the season. Bell had an impressive showing in the tourney's final round, being the only Bulldog to play an under-par round after rifling a 71.
Jacob Ross finished his MSU debut, placing in a tie for 25 after shooting a final round 73.
Senior Ben Wood carded a 72 to jump him three spots up into a tie for 43rd.
Severin Soller improved nine shots from his second round total to shoot a 77, giving him sole possession of 75th place.
Led by Individual winner Michael Johnson, Auburn won the 15-team tournament.
MSU had three participants in the USA Individual Tournament, which was held simultaneously with the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate.
Sophomore Taylor Grant was the only Bulldog under par, shooting 71 to finish fifth.
Taylor Bibbs and Jackson Dick tied for 23rd after shooting 80 and 76 in the final round, respectively.
MSU returns to the course on Feb. 29 to play in the Southwestern Jones Invitational being played at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.
