
No. 25 MSU Women?s Tennis Hits Road At UAB, Samford

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After enjoying another bye weekend, the 25th-ranked Mississippi State women's tennis team (5-1) will hit the road to Birmingham, Alabama, for a pair of matches against UAB and Samford this weekend. MSU will face UAB (2-5) at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 19. After that, the Bulldogs will take on Samford (3-3) at noon on Saturday, February 20.
All-SEC standout Jasmine Lee will be competing for the first time since climbing into the top 10 of the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis singles rankings at No. 9. The junior is currently 3-1 in singles at the No. 1 position this spring and 3-0 in doubles.
Three Bulldogs are looking to improve on their undefeated singles records thus far. Senior Georgiana Patrasc leads the trio with a 6-0 record, while 37th-ranked freshman Anastasia Rentouli has a record of 4-0. Sophomore Louise Ronaldson rounds out the trio at 1-0.
Sophomore Madison Harrison has reaped the benefits of her stellar play thus far in 2016 as well, as she enters the weekend ranked at No. 123 nationally in singles. Harrison is 4-1 this spring in her debut in the Bulldog lineup.
Two MSU doubles pairs are going into the weekend after rising in the rankings. The pair of Jennifer Brown and Kristina Vozniak climbed six spots to No. 47, while the previously unranked duo of Harrison and Patrasc debuted in the doubles rankings at No. 51.
UAB is coming off of a 4-3 loss to Samford. The Blazers' two victories include wins over Kennesaw State, 7-0, and Chattanooga, 4-1.
Samford picked up its third victory in the win against UAB, snapping a two-match losing streak. The Bulldogs from Birmingham are led in doubles by the pair of seniors Carita Moolman and Jessica Northcutt with a 4-1 record.
