Two MSU Relay Teams Tabbed Best in the Country

STARKVILLE, Miss. – There are only 36 days until the 2017 indoor season begins, but accolades from the 2016 outdoor season are still rolling in for the Mississippi State track and field program.
On Wednesday, the USTFCCCA announced the top collegiate relay teams from around the country for the 2016 outdoor season, with two of the 16 awards going to Bulldog relay teams.
The MSU sprint medley relay team of Rodrigo Rocha, Philip Smith, Alfred Larry and Brandon McBride was tabbed as the best such group in the nation after posting a time of 3:13.12 last season. The group nearly bested the NCAA record time of 3:10.76, set in 1985.
The distance medley relay team of Ffion Price, Alon Lewis, Madison Milhoan and Marta Freitas was also voted No. 1 in the nation, posting a 2016-best time of 11:11.14 in the event.
Accusplit will recognize the athletes and MSU coach Steve Dudley Thursday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. at the USTFCCCA Convention in Orlando, Fla.
"This is a great honor to have two of our relay teams tabbed as the best in the nation," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "Our athletes work tirelessly and have raised expectations at Mississippi State."
MSU begins the 2017 season Jan. 13th in Birmingham, Ala.
