Braun Wraps Up Play At Birmingham Futures
November 01, 2016 | Men's Tennis
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After winning four singles matches to advance to Tuesday's main draw, Mississippi State men's tennis sophomore Niclas Braun fell in a hard-fought three set match to cap his stellar run at the Birmingham Futures.
Braun was defeated by fellow German and former Auburn Tiger, Lukas Ollert, 6-0, 4-6, 6-0.
"This was a good tournament for Nic and he can learn a lot from his experiences here," head coach Matt Roberts said. "He applied the game play well in the second set, but couldn't in the third and we paid for it. Overall Nic played great in Birmingham and I look forward to watching his game continue to grow over the fall."
The Berlin Bulldog defeated two seeded-foes over the weekend to reach Tuesday's main draw, with both opponents holding an ATP ranking as well.
