PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The Mississippi State women's tennis team will have four players opening qualifying action on Tuesday at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The event, being held at the Riviera Tennis Club, is the first major collegiate event of 2016-17.
Tuesday will start with State's duo of senior Jasmine Lee and freshman Lisa Marie Rioux matching up with Wake Forest's top-seeded and 22nd-ranked tandem of Kimmy Guerin and Anna Ulyashchenko at 9 a.m. PT in the qualifying doubles draw.
In singles action, MSU's 75th-ranked sophomore Anastasia Rentouli will face Texas' 82nd-ranked Neda Koprcina at 12:30 pm PT. At the same time, State's 84th-ranked junior Madison Harrison will take on DePaul's 66th-ranked Yulia Shupenia to begin qualifying action.
All Bulldogs will be looking to win three consecutive qualifying matches to advance to the tournament's main draw, which begins Thursday.
The All-American Lee, ranked eighth nationally, has already earned her bid to the tournament's main draw in singles. She returns to the Riviera/ITA after winning the singles consolation championship of the event last fall.
