SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Senior Ji Eun Baik truly saved her best for last on Tuesday. Baik tied the tournament record with a final-round 64 to help the Mississippi State women's golf team wrap the fall slate with a fourth-place finish at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
The Bulldogs claimed their best finish of the fall campaign, firing an 863 to finish two strokes out of third place.
Baik's stellar final round led her to a third-place finish with a 209 total. Baik opened the event with a 68, and answered back on Tuesday after firing a 77 during Monday's second round.
Baik played bogey-free golf on Tuesday. Starting on No. 6, she played her opening nine holes at 4-under-par. She finished the back nine of Briggs Ranch Golf Course at 6-under and added additional birdies on Nos. 4 and 5 to card the tournament's lowest final round at 8-under.
Fellow senior Jessica Peng finished one shot back of Baik in a tie for sixth. Peng carded a 71 Tuesday to end the three rounds at 6-under 210. Peng got off to a hot start, playing her first 13 holes at 3-under before a pair of bogeys put her at 1-under.
Freshman Teri Doss also had the best showing of her young career, finishing tied for 26th with a personal-low 219 after coming in with a 75 on Tuesday.
Katie Holt tied for 48th with a 225 after carding a final-round 77. Freshman Athena Yang rounded out the lineup, shooting a 78 Tuesday to finish 64th (231).
Individual Kendall Wisenbaker finished in 69th position with a 236 after firing a 79 for her third round.
Mississippi State looks to build on the stellar end to the fall when it opens the spring schedule Feb. 5-7 at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Florida.
