Bulldogs Close Out Action At Southern Intercollegiate

ATHENS, Ga. – Freshman Lucas Sanchez fought his way to the second round of the Southern Intercollegiate consolation round on Sunday, but fell 6-4, 6-2 to end Mississippi State's time in Athens.
Sanchez earned his ticket to the consolation bracket second round after beating Barry's Franco Echenique 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (4) on Saturday, before losing out to Marco Almorin of Columbus State on Sunday.
“This weekend was all about development for us,” head coach Matt Roberts said. “I really liked what our three guys showed against some top-quality competition here in Athens. I'm excited to get back on the practice courts this week and keep getting better.”
The Maroon and White will have almost a month between competitions, as the Bulldogs head to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-American Championships on Oct. 3-8.
