MSU Women?s Tennis Finishes Day One At Wolfpack Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. - After the first day of play at the Wolfpack Invitational in Raleigh, N.C., Mississippi State women's tennis is 3-3 in doubles play and 3-2 in singles play. Today's session included matchups with players from Georgia State and N.C. State in doubles and Virginia Tech in singles.
The Bulldog tandem of Jasmine Lee and Madison Harrison opened up their first match of the fall slate with a win against GSU pair Linn Timmermann and Chiara Volejnicek, 6-0. Bulldogs Georgiana Patrasc and Anastasia Rentouli were also able to oust their GSU competitors Niri Rasolomalala and Kristin Rehse to the tune of 7-5.
During the noon session of the day, State's Rentouli and Jennifer Brown paired up to defeat the N.C. State duo of Barbara Mancera and Amanda Rebol, 6-3.
In the 2 p.m., singles session, Patrasc was able to come from behind to defeat VT's Elena Codina 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. Harrison was able to outlast the Hokies' Caroline Daxhelet, 6-4, 7-6(0). Rentouli won her first career collegiate singles match, defeating VT's Kelly Williford, 6-0, 6-4.
State will be back in action taking on Virginia Tech in doubles and N.C. State in singles on Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
