
Track And Field Captures Three Wins At Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Momentum from day one carried over into day two as the Mississippi State track and field teams brought home three wins from the Alabama Relays to conclude the outdoor opener.
“I'm proud of the effort that was given this weekend,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “The season has finally begun and after watching the teams compete this weekend I'm excited to see where they go throughout the year.”
Beginning day two for the Maroon and White were the 4x100m relay teams. The women's team, comprised of Ste'yce McNeil, Shayla Luckett, Euricka Hardy and Tiffany Flynn, ran a time of 46.35 to finish sixth. Juston Waters, Charles Taylor, Alfred Larry and Marshall Nunn made up the men's team who finished ninth after running a time of 41.49.
Making his season debut in the 110m hurdles, Jovan Davis finished first with a time of 14.24. With a time of 15.18, Wesley White placed 17th.
Also claiming a first-place finish was McNeil in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.83. Following McNeil in the 100m hurdles was Tiffany Flynn, in which she ran a time of 14.66 to finish 15th.
The men's distance medley relay team comprised of Damian Roszko, James Anderson, Patrick Monaghan and Andrew Monaghan, ran a time of 9:55.73 to finish second. On the women's side, Emma Neigel, Kimari Martin, Madison Milhoan and Cornelia Griesche finished second as well, with a time of 11:35.96.
The final running event of the meet was the men's 4x400m relay. MSU's team comprised of Scottie Hearn, Juston Waters, Larry and Davis finished second with a time of 3:09.33.
Marcus Jackson brought home a first-place finish in the high jump after clearing 7-03. Finishing behind Jackson was Seth Peace who cleared 6-06.75 to place 10th.
In the discus, Sasha-Gaye Marston (153-08) and Haley Reynolds (137-10) finished fifth and 11th. On the men's side, Tautvydas Kieras finished fourth with a throw of 185-02.
Three Bulldogs represented MSU in the long jump. With a leap of 23-00.75, A.J. Ward finished sixth and teammate Willie Reed (22-08) finished seventh, while on the women's side, Flynn placed 17th with a leap of 18-00.50.
The Bulldogs will return to Tuscaloosa next weekend for the Crimson Tide Invitational on Saturday, March 28.
