STARKVILLE, Miss. – To close out the fall slate, Mississippi State's Jasmine Lee travels to Flushing, N.Y, to compete in the 2015 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships this weekend at the USTA/Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The prestigious event will feature 32 of the most elite singles players and 20 of the most competitive doubles players from around the nation.
The tournament is not only the third major of the collegiate tennis season, but the fourth straight major tournament Lee has qualified for since beginning her career at State. The Bulldog junior received entry into the event after posting a straight-set victory over Virginia's third-ranked Julia Elbaba 6-1, 6-4 to win the consolation title at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships last month in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
Lee, ranked 23rd nationally, is scheduled to face Florida's 38th-ranked Kourtney Keegan in the first round on Thursday at 8 a.m. CT. This will be the first matchup between the two competitors.
Lee is 10-3 in singles this fall, with seven top 70 wins to her credit, four in the top 25, and two in the top 10.
“Jasmine has had an outstanding fall season,” MSU head coach Daryl Greenan said. “It is a great accomplishment to qualify for this event and have another opportunity to further establish herself among the best players in the country.”
