MSU?s Harrison, Rentouli Finish Purdue Invite Undefeated

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – With the final day of the Purdue Invite in the books, the Mississippi State women's tennis team finished 3-2 in singles Sunday, with sophomore Madison Harrison and freshman Anastasia Rentouli highlighting action by ending the weekend undefeated in singles.
Sunday started with the Bulldog newcomer Rentouli defeating Louisville's Jessie Paul in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in the Hammer Down Draw. In the Purdue Draw, Harrison also won in straight sets, ousting Natalia Davila of host Purdue 6-0, 6-1. Both State players also remained undefeated in singles for the fall slate with records of 6-0.
State's 83rd-ranked senior Georgiana Patrasc downed Purdue's Deborah Suarez 6-0, 6-3 in the Black Draw. In the Purdue Pete Draw, MSU sophomore Kristina Vozniak could not outlast Notre Dame's Rachel Chong, falling in three sets 3-6, 7-6(3), 7-5.
Maroon & White freshman Caroline Kelly fell to Iowa's Natalie Looney 6-2, 6-2 in the Schwartz Draw to round out State's Sunday action.
“I am pleased with the overall effort and performance from our team this weekend,” said MSU head coach Daryl Greenan. “We overcame a number of challenges and I believe progress was made in several individual and team areas. The girls will have a couple of well-deserved off days to recover and catch up with academic and off court responsibilities. I look forward to getting back on the court Wednesday and beginning our preparation for the ITA Southern Regionals coming up in less than two weeks.”
