Vero Beach, Fla. – In the final completive round of the fall slate, the Mississippi State men's golf team turned in a team scorecard of 293 on Tuesday to finish ninth at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational.
Headlining the MSU scorecard, Ben Follett-Smith shot a final round five-over-par 77 to finish tied for 21st. He has now posted three Top 25 finishes on the season, the most of any Bulldog.
“Now that the fall season is complete, we can turn our attention to making a few necessary adjustments in order to get better,” MSU coach Clay Homan said.
As the only Bulldog under-par in final round, Tim Walker rifled a 71 to jump the senior 13th spots up the leaderboard to finish in 30th place.
Fellow senior Ben Wood fired a final round 72, landing him in tie for 37th, while sophomore Taylor Grant posted a 77 to finish in a tie for 60th.
Rounding out the MSU scorecard, Jackson Dick improved seven shots on his second round to shoot a 73 and end the tournament in sole position of 69th place.
“We look forward to coming out this spring as an improved team,” Homan said.
North Texas, lead by individual winner Thomas Rosemueller, won the team title by scorecard over Michigan State.
The Maroon and White open up the spring schedule on Feb. 22 at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala..
