Bulldogs Shave Three Stroke Off First Round Total

San Antonio – Jumping out to a hot start in the second round of the Alamo Invitational, the Mississippi State women's golf team knocked three strokes off Sunday's 299 scorecard to end the second round in seventh place after posting a 296.

“We had a great round going at the beginning of the day, but struggled to finish the final four holes,” coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. “I am extremely proud of the team growing together, and the chemistry is phenomenal. It's all part of building and growing this new team together.”

Ji Eun Baik and Bianca Theron are tied for team best after Monday' play, coming in 20th place overall.

Baik fired two over par for the second consecutive day, leaving her with a 2-day total of 148.

Theron was able to shave two shots off Sunday's first round, ending Monday only 1-over-par for a two-day total of 148.

Sunday's leader Logan Chaney is just one stroke back from Baik and Theron at 149. She fired a 76 on the day and is 25th overall.

Jessica Peng fired a 75 Monday, as well as firing the teams' only eagle Monday on No. 5.

Izel Pieter had the largest margin of improvement from the first round, shaving seven total strokes off her scorecard. Pieters ended the day shooting at 74.

The team is back in action Tuesday for the final round.
