
Agarwal Advances to Semifinal of 15K; Big Day For Bulldogs In Tuscaloosa

HOUSTON, Texas. – Junior Rishab Agarwal downed No. 2 seeded Matt Reid, 7-6(7), 3-0, to advance to the Houston 15K Futures semifinal on Saturday, continuing his excellent run at the tournament.
Reid was ranked 375 by the ATP before Friday's match, with a total of 157 singles wins on the ITF Pro Circuit main draw.
Agarwal has defeated six opponents in Houston, with an upcoming match against Lucas Gomez set for Saturday.
Bulldogs Wrap Up Day Two of USTA/ITA Southern Regionals
The doubles team of Vaughn Hunter and Lucas Sanchez highlighted Mississippi State's day after advancing to the third round on Saturday. The pair downed Jacksonville State McCormick and Reece, 8-6.
“Our guys competed really hard today in doubles and it was great for those guys to get a win,” MSU head coach Matt Roberts said. “The two guys had never played together so it was a good experience for the pair. I am just proud of how they bounced back and overcame adversity today.”
The freshmen duo of Trevor Foshey and Niclas Braun fell to Samford's Carter and Gerch, 8-7(5).
In singles consolation MSU earned two victories as freshman Niclas Braun and Vaughn picked up wins. Braun downed LSU's Cameron Andry, 6-1, 6-2, while Hunter defeated Vinicio Hadlich of Jacksonville State, 7-6(4), 6-3. The pair will compete in tomorrow's round of 16.
