State?s Lee Advances To Consolation Finals At Riviera/ITA

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – With another straight-set victory over a top 25 opponent Saturday, Mississippi State's Jasmine Lee moved on to Sunday's finals of main draw consolation at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
State's 23rd-ranked junior matched up with UCLA's 22nd-ranked Catherine Harrison in the consolation semifinals. Lee quickly took the first set shutting out the Bruin star 6-0. With the second set tied 2-2, Lee was relentless and won the next four games to take the set and the match 6-0, 6-2.
For the finals on Sunday, Lee will face Virginia's No. 3-ranked Julia Elbaba, the top seed in the consolation draw. The winner of the match will receive automatic entry into USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 12-15 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
“Jasmine had another incredible performance today,” assistant coach Sachin Kirtane said. “She had very high performance serves to help her defeat another top 25 opponent. Harrison was a big hitter, but Jasmine did was able to neutralize the ground strokes. We are ready to come out and play tomorrow in the consolation finals.”
Lee is now 6-1 at the All-American this week with five top 70 wins (three in the top 25) and her only loss coming in the main draw to the top-seeded (second-ranked) player in the event.
