BRANT BLAYLOCK Q&A
Q: How are your classes going so far?
A: Classes are going well. It is definitely different than high school. You have a lot of stuff to keep up with, but other than that it has been fine.
Q: What is your major?
A: Kinesiology
Q: What classes are you taking for that?
A: The only class related to my major that I am taking right now is Health Trends and Topics.
Q: What kind of hitter would you say you are?A: I can hit for power, but I would say I am more of a doubles guy who can get on base and steal.
Q: Why did you choose Mississippi State?
A: I chose MSU definitely for the atmosphere. The games, the outfield environment and everything associated with the program all made me want to be here. Obviously, in my eyes it is the best baseball program in the country, so I wanted an opportunity to win an SEC title and a national championship.
Q: How is the strength and conditioning going program going so far?A: I love it. I don't think I have gotten a taste of it in its full effect because we have been playing and whatnot, but it has definitely been a grind and more than what I'm used to doing. I feel like I have already gotten stronger and quicker since I've been here, so I'm enjoying it.
Q: How was the first scrimmage for you Sept. 15?
A: It was good. The pace of the game is definitely quicker than what I am use to. I can pretty much bounce back from my performance and work on what I need to work on.
Q: What are some things you like to do in your spare time?
A: I like to play hacky-sack and I love to play Ping-Pong. Usually, I just hang out with my teammates, eat out with my friends and stuff like that. I don't really do that much.
Q: What are your thoughts on the new stadium? Is that a big reason why you came?A: Oh yeah, for sure. I committed maybe a month before they announced it, so I was really excited whenever they announced it. That definitely was something that got me even more excited about getting ready to come here. I was already excited to come, and after they announced that, I was ready to be here from that time.
Q: How does the team chemistry seem so far?
A: Awesome. Everybody gets along. There's none of the upperclassmen hazing the underclassmen or anything like that. Everybody gets along, and we mesh pretty well together.
Q: What are some differences you've seen from high school to college?
A: The speed of the game is completely different. The best pitcher I played in high school is just another pitcher if they were to come here. Every pitcher I've faced is the best pitcher I've seen pretty much in my entire life. The biggest difference is definitely the pitching and having to really focus in on your at-bats and pick a pitch that you want.
