
Women?s Track & Field Team Breaks Two School Records

Nashville, Tenn. – Two school records were broken by the Mississippi State women's indoor track and field team on the last day of the Vanderbilt Invitational.
In the last event of the day, the MSU 4x400 relay team recorded a time of 3:38.04 to break the school record. The foursome included, Shayla Luckett, Ocian Archer, Erica Bougard and Ste'yce McNeil.
Earlier in the day Bougard broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles after running of time of 8.18 in the prelims. She went on to win the finals with a time of 8.20. McNeil finished immediately behind Bougard with a personal-best of 8.32.
“It was such a great day,” Bougard said. “I want to keep getting faster in the hurdles. If I get faster in the hurdles than that will help me score more points in the pentathlon and hopefully make it to nationals.”
Rhianwedd Price also excelled for the Bulldogs as she placed first in the mile run with a time of 4:39.38. Also, representing MSU in the mile run was Emma Neigel (5:05.25) and Madison Milhoan (5:15.30), who finished 23rd and 33rd, respectively.
Also on the track, Euricka Hardy finished 17th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.71 before running a time of 25.07 in the 200-meter dash to place 13th. Archer finished 22nd in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.44. In the men's 200-meter dahs, Juston Waters (21.95) and Marshall Nunn (22.46) finished 10th and 16th, respectively.
Jovan Davis finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.90. Wesley White placed sixth after running a time of 8.23.
The Bulldogs were recognized by three athletes in the men's 60-meter dash, Juston Waters (6.91) placed eight, James Anderson (7.15) finished 26th and Marshall Nunn (7.18) finished 28th.
In the 400-meter dash, four Bulldogs placed in the Top 10 on the men's side. Scottie Hearn (48.09) finished third, Dustin James II (48.44) finished fourth, Charles Taylor (48.56) finished fifth and Steve Shoto (48.96) finished seventh. On the women's team Shayla Luckett finished second after recording a new personal best 54.41.
Distance runners Cornelia Griesche (9:45.03) and Carly Terp (10:23.09) finished in ninth and 25th in the 3000-meter run. Damian Roszko (8:12.97) finished fourth on the men's side, while Andrew Monaghan (8:23.40) finished in 10th.
In the field, Ebony Brinker finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 42-00.75, while teammate Tiffany Flynn (41-08.50) finished in fourth.
The Bulldogs had three athletes compete in the shot put. Sasha-Gaye Marston placed 17th with a throw of 39-09.75, followed by Haley Reynolds who placed 19th with a toss of 39-05. Tautvydas Kieras finished 14th with a personal-best throw of 50-02.75.
Sydney Rodkey recorded a new personal-best as well in the pole vault after clearing 12-03.50 to finish 12th. In the men's long jump, Willie Reed placed fifth after a leap of 24-01.
“Everyone worked extremely hard today,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “We had a couple great records broken and we recorded numerous personal-bests. I hope we can continue to see great things from these athletes as they continue to improve at each meet.”
The Bulldogs will return to action on Jan. 30 for the New Balance Invitational in New York City.
