MSU Hosts Final Non-Conference Games

STARKVILLE, Miss. – For the final time in 2014, Mississippi State will play non-conference home games, welcoming Marshall for three games this weekend. The teams play a noon doubleheader Saturday and a noon contest Sunday. The Bulldogs are 25-10 overall this season with a 12-3 mark in home games.
Saturday's doubleheader will be Camper Reunion Day. Everyone who attended a Mississippi State softball camp during the summer can receive a FREE HailState backpack.
Every Sunday this spring at the MSU Softball Stadium is Kids Day. At the field will be FREE face tattoos and ice cream for fans and kids in eighth grade and under can run the bases after the game.
In Starkville this season, the Bulldogs are outscoring teams by a combined score of 81-21. Freshman Caroline Seitz leads the regular starters with a .349 average in home contests and senior Sam Lenahan tops the squad with 16 runs batted in during home affairs.
Sophomore Jacey Punches and freshman Mackenzie Toler have not allowed an earned run in home contests this year and the pitching staff has posted a 1.33 home earned-run average.
Mississippi State has never faced the Thundering Herd, but the Bulldogs have gone 67-29 against all current members of Conference USA. The Bulldogs are already 3-0 versus C-USA clubs this year, having topped Florida Atlantic 2-1 and 5-0 and UTSA 6-0.
Following this weekend's competition, the Bulldogs return to action Tuesday at Mississippi Valley State for a 6 p.m. CT contest.
