MSU?s Perper Splits Decisions At ITA All-American

STARKVILLE, Miss. – As the 2013 Mississippi State women's tennis fall campaign got underway Saturday, senior Alexandra Perper started off with a win in the first round but fell in the second round in prequalifying singles of the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.
Working through a few ups and downs throughout the first round, Perper swiped a win in her first match against senior Whitney Ritchie of Oklahoma in a hard-fought 7-6, 6-4 victory.
In the second round Saturday night, Perper dropped her match against Maria Deheza of Texas A&M, 6-1, 6-1, conluding Perper's stint in singles at the All-American.
Perper will continue play in the tournament on Tuesday, however, as she and partner Naomi Tran will begin competition in the doubles qualifying draw. The duo is ranked at No. 48 in doubles by the ITA.
Action will also begin for Georgiana Patrasc Tuesday, as the sophomore will open play the in qualifying draw in singles. An All-SEC selection in 2013, her preseason ITA ranking to open this fall was a new career best, coming in at No. 76 nationally.
