State Women?s Tennis Completes Action In ITA All-American

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. –Mississippi State's women's tennis team concluded play in the ITA All-American Championships Wednesday after a setback in singles and a win in a one-match doubles consolation draw.
Georgiana Patrasc, the 76th-ranked MSU sophomore, competed Wednesday in the third round of qualifying singles. Her foe Wednesday was Beatrice Capra of Duke, the event's No. 5 seed and currently ranked at No. 27 by the ITA. Patrasc held her ground throughout the match but ultimately fell to Capra 6-1, 6-2. The loss ended a solid run this week for Patrasc, who posted two big wins on Tuesday to advance to the final round of qualifying competition.
Bulldogs Alexandra Perper and Naomi Tran, State's 48th-ranked doubles duo, played against the 35th-ranked duo of Melissa Kopinski and Allison Falkin of Illinois, winning 8-3 Wednesday. The contest was in a one-match consolation bracket and completed Perper and Tran's play in the tournament.
MSU women's tennis will pick back up beginning this Friday in the Ragin' Cajun Classic in Lafayette, La. State players Petra Ferancova, Timea Guibe and Roseline Dion will be participating in the event.
