
Bulldogs Conclude Play At Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. - With play concluded at the 32nd annual Schenkel Invitational the Mississippi State men's golf team finished 15th with a three-round total of 916. The three-day tournament was being played at the par-72 Forest Heights Country Club.
Bulldog junior Lee Heaton was the low scorer for MSU on Sunday with a 76 but freshman Chad Ramey led the entire Bulldog lineup at the end of the tournament with a 7-over-par 223 tournament total. Ramey was also State's leader in pars made with 38 through 54 holes of play. Heaton finished the tournament with a 230 threeround score and was the tournament's runner-up in par 3 scoring. Sophomore Robi Calvesbert tied Heaton's tournament total of 230. Bulldog freshman Axel Boasson posted consistent rounds of 78-77-78 at the Schenkel Invitational and John Darden rounded out the Bulldog lineup.
Auburn won the tournament in a three-hole playoff with Florida after the two teams tied in total team score at the conclusion of the three-day event. It was the first time since 1999 that a playoff determined the winner of the Schenkel Invitational.
MSU will tee off in the regular season finale on April 4 at the Bancorp South Reunion Intercollegiate in Madison, Miss.
