
Bulldog Linksters Complete First Round At Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. – Following the opening day of play at the Schenkel Invitational the Mississippi State men's golf team leads a pair of Southeastern Conference opponents. The three-day event is being played at the par-72 Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
MSU is led by a trio all tied after a 3-over-par opening day effort. Bulldog junior Robi Calvesbert fired a 75 and was among the tournament's leaders in par 4 scoring and was MSU's leader in birdies made with four. Also posting a first round 75 was Lee Heaton who led State in pars made with 15 and freshman Chad Ramey. Rounding out the Bulldog lineup was freshman Axel Boasson and John Darden who finished with first round scores of 78 and 79 respectively.
MSU finished ahead of in-state rival Ole Miss and SEC-foe Kentucky following opening day action while Auburn leads the field after an opening day 9-under-par effort. MSU fired a 303 to open the Schenkel Invitational and will tee off second round action on Saturday.
