
Bulldogs Advance In Singles, Doubles In All-American Qualifiers

TULSA, Okla. - After a second round victory in the qualifiers at the
ITA All-American Championships, 73rd-ranked James Chaudry of
Mississippi State, has advanced to the final round on Tuesday. In addition, the MSU doubles tandem of George Coupland and Zach
White moved into Wednesday final round.
In the second round, Chaudry took on an SEC opponent in Jarryd Botha
of Alabama. With a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Botha, Chaudry earned himself a third round matchup against Tulane's Idan Mark on Wednesday. To advance to the singles main draw, which begins Thursday, Chaudry must win his third round bout tomorrow.
In doubles action of the qualifiers Tuesday, Coupland and White squared off against Hunter Nicholas and Javier Pulgar of San Diego State in the second round (received first-round bye). After a grueling back and forth battle, the Bulldog tandem
pulled out an 8-6 victory to advance to the third round of qualifying action tomorrow. Coupland and White will face either Jesus Bandres and Sander Gille of East Tennessee State or LSU's Olivier Borsos and Neal Skupski. The MSU duo must win two matches tomorrow to advance to the main draw of doubles action beginning Thursday.
Competing in a single round of consolation singles action Tuesday was White, who downed Orlando Superlano of TCU 7-6(3), 4-6, 1-0(4) in that contest.
The 27th-ranked Coupland, 46th-ranked senior Louis Cant and sophomore Malte Stropp, ranked 46th in the ITA preseason polls, will compete for the Bulldogs beginning Thursday in the main draw. Also, in the main draw of doubles play, the seventh-ranked MSU
tandem of Cant and Stropp will be in action.
