MSU's Tsigvintseva, Iakovleva Conclude Play At Jack Kramer

LOS ANGELES, Cal. - Olesya Tsigvintseva and Ekaterina Iakovleva concluded their play at the Jack Kramer Club Invite with a consolation doubles win over a Loyola Marymount duo Saturday.
Although singles matches did not end in favor of the Lady Bulldogs, the pair finished the day off strong with a come from behind win over Loyola Marymount's duo of Miya Jin and Tory Parravi. At one point during the match, Iakovleva and Tsigvintseva found themselves down 5-2, but the ladies of Mississippi State were able to outwork their opponent and battle back to win the match 9-7.
The day began with singles competition, in which both Tsigvintseva and Iakovleva battled opponents from Pepperdine. Tsigvintseva was defeated by Alejandra Granillo 6-3, 6-4. Iakovleva was downed 6-3, 6-4 by her opponent, Lorraine Guillermo, also a member of Pepperdine's roster.
MSU head coach Daryl Greenan was pleased with the experience that both of his players gained this weekend.
"Ekaterina (Iakovleva) and Olesya (Tsigvintseva) won a couple of very close doubles matches. The competition has been good at this tournament, and both girls have benefitted."
The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action next weekend as they travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Notre Dame Fall Invite.
