Iakovleva, Tsigvintseva Complete Day One Of Jack Kramer

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Today marked the beginning of competition in the Jack Kramer Club Invite for Ekaterina Iakovleva and Olesya Tsigvintseva of the Lady Bulldog tennis team.
The day began with the first round of singles matches, where Tsigvintseva fell to Khunpak Issara of Pepperdine University 6-1, 6-3. After a first round bye, the newcomer Iakovleva began play against third-seeded and 60th-ranked Kaitlyn Christian of Southern Cal. Christian defeated Iakovleva 6-1, 6-2.
Consolation matches resulted in two victories for the Lady Bulldogs. Tsigvintseva ousted her opponent, Reka Rohonyiu of Loyola Marymount, 6-1, 6-1. Iakovleva defeated another LMU foe in Tory Parravi, 6-1, 6-1.
Iakovleva and Tsigvintseva ended the day by pairing up for two doubles matches. Their first opponents were Melissa Bolivar and Brittany Dubins of Miami. Iakovleva and Tsigvintseva defeated the Miami pair 9-8(3). The Lady Bulldog duo then took on Alejandra Granillo and Lorraine Guillermo of Pepperdine University in the quarterfinals. Granillo and Guillermo, the #2 seeds, defeated Iakovleva and Tsigvintseva 8-3.
Play will continue tomorrow at 9 a.m. (CT) with singles consolation matches.
