ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. ? The Mississippi State men's golf team fell one spot into sixth place on day two of the 2009 Southeastern Conference Championship Saturday, firing a 290, and is 7-over-par after two rounds.
“We played a pretty solid round today,” said head coach Clay Homan. “And, like yesterday, we did not start off particularly well, but we finished the day strong which gave us a big boost.”
Senior Carlos Sainz, Jr. shot a second -round, 4-under-par 68 to finish with a two-day total of 5-under-par. Sainz notched the tournament's third-lowest, second-round score, and moved into a tie for third after two days of play.
