State Women Capture Distance Medley Relay Title On Final Day Of Alabama Relays

“We had a big win in the women's DMR,” head coach Al Schmidt said. “Dominique Lockhart, Crystal Wilson, Chelsea Rae Smyth and Anais Dechamps ran really well on the relay.”
The Lady Bulldogs earned another solid finish in the final day winning third place in the 4x200-meter relay. The relay team consisted of Richesa McCaleb, Wendy Copeland, Candice Polk and Priscilla Gaines.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs placed third in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 40.66 seconds. D'Angelo Cherry, John Bailey, Dwight Mullings and Trey Charles posted State's fifth regional qualifying mark of the weekend and the races second mark of the season.
“The 4x100-meter relay earned its second regional qualifying mark of the season,” said Schmidt. “We had a different group of guys running the relay from the first time they earned a qualifying mark, which is good.”
The men's sprint medley relay also did well by earning a second place finish with a time of 3:26.92 seconds. Cherry, Bailey, Mullings and Emanuel Mayers made up the sprint medley relay.
In jumps, Bulldogs Allen Cassell and Kendrick Poullard earned fourth place finishes in their respective events.
“Allen jumped pretty well today,” said Schmidt. “Kendrick did well too. He jumped a season-best today in the triple jump with a distance of 49 feet and 2.25 inches. Overall we had a great day at the meet. We held our own throughout the meet and had a good string finish with the women's DMR today. So I am pleased.”
