
Four MSU Netmen Advance On Day One Of SEC Indoor Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. - It was a solid start for Mississippi State at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships on Friday as four Bulldog netmen advanced to the second round of the singles main draw.
Freshman Louis Cant advanced with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Otto Sauer of Ole Miss. Sophomore Tanner Stump advanced with a 6-0, 5-7, 6-3 victory over Tennessee's Jeremy Tweedt while Bulldog rookie Daniel Sanchez began his spring with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over LSU's Mark Bowtell. MSU's lone senior Ryan Farlow was victorious over Georgia's Alex Hill 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Bulldog sophomore Antonio Lastre fell in a tight 3-6, 7-5, 6-7 decision to LSU's John Tragardh in first round action.
State dropped a pair of doubles matches in the first round as Cant and Stump fell 8-4 to LSU's Mark Bowtell and David Roberts while Sanchez and Lastre fell 9-8 in a tiebreaker to Florida's Jeff Dadamo and Jon Haumi.
Main draw singles will continue on Saturday at Kentucky's Boone Tennis Complex while consolation singles will be played at the Lexington Tennis Club on Saturday. Both MSU's doubles teams will be in consolation doubles action which also begins on Saturday at the Boone Tennis Complex.
