
MSU Through Round One At Turtle Bay Invitational

KAHUKA, OAHU, Hawaii. ? The Mississippi State men's golf team is in a tie for seventh of 19 teams through the first round at the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational in Kahuka, Oahu, Hawaii. The Bulldogs fired their lowest opening-round score of the season, a 3-under-par, 285 at the par-72 Fazio course.
"We played alright today," said Coach Clay Homan. "I felt we left plenty of shots out there. We had some consistency but lacked that 66 or 67 that you need."
Senior Noah Goldman led the way for MState carding a 2-under-par 70 in round one and sits in a tie for 13th. Senior Josh Bevell finished one shot back at 1-under-par after 18 holes of play. Redshirt Junior Brian Mason also notched a 1-under-par 71 in round one. Senior Matt Fast is 1-over-par through round one followed by fellow Bulldog Carlos Sainz, Jr. who shot a 2-over-par 74.
Playing as an individual, senior Logan Young shot a 5-over-par 77. Young's score does not count towards the team score.
Play will resume Tuesday morning with 18-holes to be played on the par-72 Palmer Course.
