MSU Cross Country Teams Finish Crimson Classic On High Note

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ? The Mississippi State men's cross country team placed second at the Crimson Classic, while the State women placed fourth Friday afternoon at the Harry Pritchard Running Course in Tuscaloosa, Ala. MSU's men totaled 50 points while the women registered 98 points.
MState's men placed three in the top 10, collegiately and five in the top 20. For the second straight meet junior Jonathan Rono and freshman Ben Blakenship finished in the top spots for the Bulldogs. Rono came in fourth with a time of 24 minutes, 48.63 seconds and Blakenship finished seventh with a time of 25:07.43. Senior Ashenafi Arega came in 10th collegiately, 11th overall with a time of 25:35.11 to round out the Bulldog top 10.

On the women's side, State was paced by senior Annie Falor tallying a time of 18:08.96 to capture fourth place position. Freshmen Simon Domingue (18:25.26) and Sarah Hammes (18:35.42) finished seventh and eleventh place, respectively to give MSU three runners in the top 10, collegiately.
“The first five ran really well,” said Women's Head Coach Al Schmidt. “We had a chance to win, but it is still early in the season. We still have work to do. The top three runners ran with a really high caliber. We just have to keep working to get better.”
