
MSU's Banikova Falls In Second Round Of NCAA Singles Championship

ATHENS, Ga. ?€“ Mississippi State sophomore Martina Banikova was downed by Cal's 12th-ranked Zsuzsanna Fodor, a 9-16 seed, in the second round of the NCAA Singles Championship Thursday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus. After dropping the first set 6-1, Banikova broke in the first game of the second set, only to drop the next six games.
Banikova ended the season with a 17-15 overall record which included a 9-7 record in dual matches. Among her results in 2006-07, the sophomore has registered four wins over top 40 opponents this spring, including one in the top 10.
Currently ranked 46th nationally, Banikova had became only the second Lady Bulldog to reach the second round of the NCAA Singles Championship.
