NASHVILLE, Tenn. ? The Mississippi State men's golf team stands in second place after one round of play in the Mason Rudolph Invitational at the par-71 Roper's Knob Course at Legends Club. As a team, the Bulldogs notched a 284, even-par round in Sunday opening round, trailing the current leader, the University of Mississippi, by one stroke.

MState was led by junior Noah Goldman, who is tied for third after his 2-under par performance in round one. Junior Matt Fast trails Goldman by one stroke through the first round and is in a four-way tie for ninth place. Junior Calos Sainz, Jr. was 1-over par, followed by junior Logan Young who shot a 2-over par 73 in the first round. Bulldog junior walk-on Josh Bevell, who is playing in his fourth consecutive tournament, is currently at 3-over par.

Going into round two, South Alabama trails MSU by two strokes, while the Bulldogs hold a three-stroke lead over host Vanderbilt. Mississippi State was one of three schools that produced an eagle in round one, and were second on the leader board with 14 birdies on the day.

MState will tee off at 9:40 a.m. CT Monday and will be paired with Mississippi and South Alabama.
