Steve Burkholder joined the Mississippi State Athletic Academic staff in June 2020 and serves as the Athletic Academic Counselor for the soccer, men's tennis and women's tennis teams.

Prior to MSU, Burkholder worked as an assistant academic counselor at Arkansas where he worked with the baseball, soccer and women's track and field teams. In his role as Assistant Academic Counselor, he was responsible for monitoring course performance, degree progress and continuing eligibility.

Burkholder earned his bachelor's in psychology from Rutgers in 2014 where, he competed on the cross country and track and field teams. After graduating, Burkholder worked as an Americorps member with City Year Philadelphia and as an Academic Assistant with the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation. He earned his master of education in recreation and sport management from Arkansas in 2020.

Steve, originally from New Jersey, now resides in Starkville.
