Head coach Julie Darty Dennis announced the addition of Michael Bouril as an assistant coach to the MSU Staff on February 12, 2025.
In his first season in Starkville, Bouril helped guide the Bulldogs to a 16-10 record in the first year of the 16-team SEC. The team tied the best start in program history at 11-1, while also going undefeated in the non-conference portion of the regular season at 10-0. At the conclusion of the 2025 season, Lindsey Mangelson was named to the SEC’s Second and All-Freshman Team, while also earning an AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention. Mangelson was a two-time SEC Freshman of the Week while Cayley Hanson earned her first career SEC Setter of the Week honor.
Bouril moved to Starkville after spending the past five seasons on staff at Purdue, including the past two as an assistant coach. The Boilermakers made the NCAA Tournament in each of those five years, extending its current NCAA Tournament appearance streak to nine, the program’s longest streak. Purdue ended two of those seasons in the NCAA Regional Finals and earned a record of 113-41 during that time.
During his time at Purdue, Bouril’s players have earned eight different AVCA and Volleyball Magazine honors. He also accumulated 17 AVCA All-Region Honors, including 12 first team honors. Under Bouril, Raven Colvin and Eva Hudson earned AVCA All-American Honors, with Hudson being named the AVCA Midwest Region Player of the Year.
Statistically, Purdue hit .280 as a team in Bouril’s last season, the third-best mark in program history. It ranked 15th in the nation and fourth in the Big Ten. The Boilermakers also ranked eighth in the nation in assists per set (13.29) and kills per set (14.26), while ranking ninth in blocks per set (2.80).
