Katie Zukin is entering her sixth season as the certified athletic trainer for the Bulldog soccer program. Zukin provides medical coverage to the team both home and away, focusing on injury prevention and the care and treatment of injuries.
In addition to her duties with the soccer team, she is the summer camp athletic training coordinator, as well as a lab and CPR instructor. Zukin is also the athletic department’s emergency liaison to campus.
A native of The Dalles, Ore., Zukin came to Starkville following a stint at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. During her time off Lake Superior, Zukin served as the Lakers’ co-head trainer, focusing on injury prevention and treatment of the NCAA Division II program’s men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, track and field and cross country programs.
Zukin made the move to Michigan after completing her master’s degree in sports science from the University of Idaho in 2007. She also served as a graduate assistant trainer, working with the Vandals’ women’s soccer program.
The Oregon native made the cross-country trek to Jonesboro, Ark., to work on her bachelor’s degree. She earned that degree from Arkansas State University in 2005.
Zukin is a nationally-certified athletic trainer and is licensed in the state of Mississippi.
She was born Sept. 13, 1982, to Chris and Judy Zukin. She has two sisters, Stacy Baker and Peggi Casady, and a brother, Nick. Her two sisters have four children each.
