Franqua Bedell

Franqua Bedell joined the Mississippi State women's basketball coaching staff in June 2008 following two seasons at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, Ill. He was promoted to the Lady Bulldogs' recruiting coordinator in March 2010.
In the summer of 2010, Bedell was selected to the Black Coaches Association's ACE program in Indianapolis, Ind. He was just one of 24 men's and women's coaching candidates selected to participate in the clinic.
During the 2007-08 season, he served as the head coach and led the squad to a final ranking of sixth nationally in the NJCAA polls as his squad went 32-4. Bedell was named Greater River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, Region 24 coach of the Year and IBCA Coach of the Year that season. As the head coach, Bedell also handled recruiting duties, was in charge of academic success and advising, oversaw campus visits, directed summer camps, scheduled games and oversaw fundraising activities for the program.
In addition to his coaching duties, Bedell served as the athletic director and fitness director at SIC. In that role, he provided administrative responsibility for the overall direction of all athletic teams at SIC. In 2006-07, Bedell served as an assistant at SIC under current MSU assistant Greg Franklin.
Bedell spent the 2005-06 season as the Head Freshman Girls Basketball coach at Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Prior to that stint, Bedell served two seasons at Southeast Missouri State, two seasons at Northside High School in Fort Smith, Ark., and two seasons at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. Bedell started his professional career at Cass Job Corp in Ozarks, Ark. Bedell is also the founder of the Coach Q School of Basketball.
Bedell holds his Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of the Ozarks and earned his Masters degree in Sports and Recreation Management from Hardin-Simmons University.
