Women's Basketball

- Title:
- Graduate Assistant
Former Mississippi State women’s basketball player Candace Foster is back on the sideline for the Bulldogs, although it’s in a different capacity as she begins her first season as the program’s graduate assistant coach.
In her role, Foster will assist with daily operations of the program while coordinating the team’s community service efforts.
Serving in the local community is nothing new to Foster, as it is something she was an active participant in during her time at Mississippi State. Her works in the community earned her SEC Community Service Team honors her final two seasons in the Maroon & White.
Foster was very involved in Mississippi State’s M-Club student-athlete service organization, helping with the athletic department’s annual Bully’s Book Blitz and Breakfast of Champions. She also helped with the M-Club’s annual bake sale and toy distribution projects while also volunteering at the Starkville food pantry and Palmer Home for Children. She has also been involved with the city’s Travis Outlaw Day festivities and participated in Mississippi’s “Let’s Go Walking” initiative.
Faith is a big part of Foster’s life, and in addition to giving back to the community, she also is an active participant in MSU’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In 2013 she joined Savannah Carter and other student-athletes in carrying a cross through Oktibbeha County.
Foster joins the Bulldog coaching staff after spending four years as a guard on the squad. The Jackson, Miss., native joined Mississippi State as a walk-on before being awarded a scholarship in December of her sophomore season.
The former Murrah High School standout played in 72 games during her Mississippi State career, starting 11 contests and averaging 8.1 minutes per game.
