Among the nation's top 50 singles players and top 15 in doubles entering the 2012 spring season... Finished with an impressive 9-2 SEC record... Downed eight ranked opponents for the 2012 season... FALL - Ranked 36th in the ITA polls in singles... In doubles, Cant paired with sophomore Malte Stropp as they were tabbed the 7th-ranked duo in the country... Tallied seven singles wins along with 11 doubles victories during the fall campaign... Began the fall season on a 3-0 run at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships before falling in the quarters... Defeated California's 26th-ranked Carlos Cueto at the ITA All-Americans before falling to #3 Eric Quigley of Kentucky in a thrilling three-set bout... Battled to the semifinals of play at the Southern Regional Indoor Championships before falling in a tough three-setter to the eventual champ, Auburn's 70th-ranked Andreas Mies... Began the term on a 5-0 run in doubles with Stropp... The tandem earned the doubles crown at the Southern Intercollegiates, defeating four SEC foes en route... The Bulldog pair notched two key victories at the ITA All-American Championships, including 15th-ranked Cunha and Mengel of Duke, en route to a quarterfinal run in consolation play... Tallied three solid victories in the Southern Regionals before falling to a tough LSU opponent in the semis... SPRING - Ranked 45th in singles in the Jan. 3 ITA poll entering the spring season, 12th in doubles with Malte Stropp... Began the season winning 12 consecutive matches, propelling himself to 37th nationally in the rankings... Took his match with Florida's Florent Diep to a tiebreaker and won to clinch the Bulldog's victory against the 11th-ranked Gators... Constructed an 11 match winning streak to finish his MSU career... Reached the Round of 16 in the NCAA Championship Singles, defeating No. 51 Yannick Hanfmann of Southern Cal in straight sets and 42nd-ranked Bob van Overbeek of Florida... Posted an 11-11 doubles record with teammate Malte Stropp, including a victory against the 60th-ranked duo of Alex Domijan and Steven Rooda of No. 4 Virginia... Played alongside teammate Artem Ilyushin for one doubles match this season, posting a victory against Jonathan Brooklyn and Nils Schuhmann of Hawaii.
JUNIOR (2010-11):
Went 21-7 in singles and 14-12 in doubles during an outstanding junior campaign... Helped lead MSU to the 2011 SEC Western Division title and the program's 20th NCAA Championship appearance... Ranked as high as 38th nationally in singles, finishing 81st... Finished the year rated a season-best 33rd in the country in doubles with Malte Stropp... Was a second-team, all-SEC selection as well as being named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and an ITA Scholar-Athlete... Named to the CoSIDA District VI Academic Team.
FALL - Tallied two singles wins and three doubles victories in a much anticipated fall season for the Maroon and White...Began the fall season at the first of three championship collegiate tennis events at the ITA All-American Championships... Due to his fall ranking (38th) and performance last season was an automatic qualifier for the main draw of the championship event... Dropped his opening match to the No. 27 ranked player in the country in two close sets... In the opening round of consolation of the main draw defeated the 12th-ranked player in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0... In doubles teaming up with Malte Stopp picked up a first round win in the qualifying draw at the ITA All-American Championships... Advanced to the round of 16 in doubles at the ITA Southern Regional Championships along with partner Malte Stropp... The tandem claimed a pair of wins before being eliminated.
SPRING - Began the spring on a 5-0 run, taking down all opponents in quick two-setters... Won all three matches at the Auburn Invitational as well as both matches at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in College Station, Tex... Went a remarkable 16-4 in singles dual matches... In SEC play, he finished 9-2 through the season where he tallied an eight-match win streak from March 11-April 10... Took down Tennessee's 121st ranked Boris Conkic en route to a 6-1 Bulldog upset victory over the 4th ranked Vols... Defeated Florida State's Anderson Reed in the first round of the NCAA Championships to help the Bulldogs to a second round face-off against Georgia Tech... Also finished the season ranked 33rd nationally with fellow freshman Malte Stropp and 81st in singles... The duo finished 6-5 in SEC match-ups where five of their six wins came against opponents in the top 80... Earned All-SEC Second Team honors for the 2011 season.
SOPHOMORE (2009-10):
Proved to be one of the Bulldogs most consistent contributors... Ended the year 24-11 overall in singles, 20-10 in doubles... Named to SEC Academic Honor Roll and an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
FALL - Notched a team-high 13 victories and posted a team-best winning percentage of 81.3 percent...One of his 13 victories came over 57th-ranked Nick Meister of UCLA, his first-career win over a ranked opponent... Began the season with eight straight victories, having his streak snapped in the third and final round of qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla... Had a quarterfinal showing at the ITA Southern Regional and was the Flight C singles runner-up at the Virginia Tech Challenge... Went 2-0 in matches that lasted to three sets.
SPRING - Began the spring campaign with a 10-1 record, which included taking down 49th ranked Tucker Vorster of Ole Miss in straight-sets at the River Hills Cup in Jackson, Miss.... Entered the rankings for the first time in his career on Feb. 18 at 64th... In the first conference match of the season, upset eighth ranked Eric Quigley of Kentucky on the road in straight-sets... Picked up second conference victory over No. 22 nationally ranked Javier Garrapiz of Georgia... For the first time in his career, was the match-clinching point for the Bulldogs against East Tennessee State and at home against Middle Tennessee... Was selected as the third overall alternate for the singles draw at the 2010 NCAA Championship in Athens, Ga., and finished the season ranked 59th... Competed with teammate Chris Doerr in doubles, compiling a 15-5 dual match record and a team-best 8-2 record in conference action... Won six-straight matches before falling to Florida in the quarterfinals of the SEC Championship... Was a perfect 6-0 in dual matches against Southern Region opponents and 6-1 when at home... Was selected as the third alternate in singles at the NCAA Championship but was not promoted into the championship draw.
FRESHMAN (2009):
Came to State in the spring and established himself as a regular in the Bulldog lineup as a true freshman.
SPRING - Posted a 6-3 record at the #4 spot in his first season with MSU, including a 3-2 record in matches going three sets... Put together two separate streaks of three straight wins, including a trio of victories to open his career with the Maroon and White... Was the match-clinching point in the 5-2 win over UAB at home... Went 8-10 in doubles play.
PRE-MSU:
Attended Sint-Lodewijks High School in Brugge, Belgium... Spent his amateur career ranked as one of the top junior players in Belgium... Came to Mississippi State ranked as the 26th best men's player in Belgium.
