-Missed the season opener against Eastern Washington with turf toe, then scored 6 points in his MSU debut against Southern to go along with his 3 assists and 2 rebounds.
-In the SEC Tournament against Georgia, had 7 points and 2 assists.
-His 329 points were the 10th most by an MSU freshman, along with his 61 made 3-pointers were 2nd. His 11.3 scoring averages is 8th best all-time.

-As a senior, averaged 29.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists as his team finished ranked third nationally USA Today with a 31-3 record.
-In 2015 title game against Ridgeland, totaled 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists en route to earning MVP honors for the third time as his team won 66-43.

-In 2013, became just on of three freshmen or sophomores to ever earn the Clarion-Ledger Metro Play of the Year, joining Monta Ellis and Othella Harrington.
-Member of 2014 FIBA U17 championship with a 99-92 win against Australia, where he collected MVP honors after scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
-Also won gold medal at the 2013 FIBU U16 Championship and earned MVP honors after averaging 16.2 points and collecting 16 steals in five games.

Malik Tidderious Newman was born on Feb. 21, 1997, in Shreveport, La. ... Majoring in broadcasting. ... Son of Horatio Webster and LaKeyshia Newman-Myles. His father Horatio played for MSU from 1997-98 and was a first-team All-SEC selection in 1998.
