LaKendrick James prepped at Northside High School under the direction of head coach Montrelli Finely … During his senior season in 2023, James recorded 125 tackles, seven tackles for loss, five sacks, one interception and one forced fumble … He caught four touchdown passes and helped convert a pair of 2-point conversions … He was a four-sport athlete in high school playing basketball, baseball and track & field … Advanced to the MHSAA Class 2A State Championships and finished in sixth place on the 4x1 relay team (Leg 2), seventh place on the 4x2 relay team (Leg 2), and second place in the high Jump (6-0 PR) as a senior in 2023 ... Advanced to state in the high Jump in 2022 and finished seventh … Two-way player all four years on varsity for NHS, earning a career record of 34-7 with four postseason berths including the 2019 MHSAA Class 2A State Finalists … He was a team captain as a senior.
