Bulldogs Host Gamecocks At Dudy Noble Wednesday Night
STARKVILLE, Miss. – In its final non-conference game of the regular season, the No. 23 Mississippi State baseball team (28-17) will host Jacksonville State (23-19) at Dudy Noble Field in Starkville Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The forecast for the game is 65 degrees, partly cloudy with zero percent chance of rain.
The Bulldogs have won eight-straight midweek games and are 19-1 in regular-season midweek games since the beginning of last season. In its history against Jacksonville State, MSU owns a perfect 11-0 record dating back to 1996. The two teams last played in 2007, when the Bulldogs won an early season contest by an 11-9 score.

· Jacob Lindgren was named to the midseason watch list for the 2014 NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award, given to the best relief pitcher in college baseball.
· Lindgren leads the country with 17.5 strikeouts per nine innings.
· Senior All-SEC second baseman Brett Pirtle reached base safely in 26-straight games overall and is riding a 14-game hitting streak.
· In his last five games, Pirtle is hitting .524 (11-for-21).
· Junior shortstop Seth Heck has reached base safely in a season-high 12-straight games, during which he has tallied seven runs, seven RBIs and five walks during that span.
· Heck has multiple hits in seven of his last 11 games.
· Since April 11 vs. Ole Miss, junior third baseman Matthew Britton is 12-for-36 (.333) with nine runs scored and three stolen bases.
