STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's Duke Stone was selected as the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week following his career-best outing in a series-clinching shutout at South Carolina this past Saturday.
Stone set new career highs with a dozen strikeouts across six scoreless innings and finishing with 101 pitches. The sophomore from Uvalda, Georgia scattered five hits and walked three to improve to 6-1 on the season.
In 11 appearances (nine starts), Stone sports a 3.78 earned run averaging with 70 strikeouts and only 18 walks spanning 47 2/3 innings of work.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound right-hander shared the weekly honor with Cade Townsend of Ole Miss. Stone is the second Bulldog to be named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week joining Tomas Valincius (March 16) and is the third MSU player to win a weekly award from the conference following Jacob Parker's Freshman of the Week honor on March 23.
Stone and the Diamond Dawgs return to action Tuesday hosting Memphis at 6 p.m. on SEC Network+.
