
Record Book Rewritten In Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Mississippi State track and field concluded the Tom Jones Memorial meet, hosted by Florida, on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday's competition held several record-book performances on both the track and in the field. Overall, the Dawgs earned a new program record, three freshman records, four entries or adjustments to the program's all-time list, and ten personal bests.
Marie Rougetet continues to improve in the hammer throw, launching a 69.67m mark for a new personal best, extending her program record by over two meters. Her mark leads the SEC by over two meters and is fourth in the NCAA this season.
The freshman Bulldogs had a strong showing, with three freshman records falling on day two of competition. De'Kayla Simpson ran 52.38 over 400m, for a new freshman record and the third fastest time in program history. Ife Adisa crossed the line and 2:04.05 in the 800m, and Jayden Thrower jumped 15.60m in the triple jump, both etching their names in the record book.
Three Bulldogs extended or moved up on the all-time list in their respective events. Manie Mevo moved into second in the triple jump, posting a 13.28m mark and an event win in the collegiate section. Nicholas Fakorede clocked 10.04 in the 100m to break the tie for No. 4 in program history. His time puts him in the top ten in the NCAA and top five in the SEC. Alla Parnov improved on
her fourth spot on the all-time list in the pole vault with a 4.05m jump.
The day concluded with the 4x400m, as the women's squad of Ife Adisa, Adetutu Aladeloye, Camryn Merryman and De'Kayla Simpson earned the second-fastest time in program history at 3:32.51.
