April 15, 2026 | Women's Basketball
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State women's basketball announced the addition of rising sophomore Reese Beaty for the 2026-27 season.
Beaty, a 5-8 guard originally from Jamestown, Tennessee, spent her freshman campaign with Iowa State. In 27 games, Beaty made a pair of starts and averaged 4.6 points, 3.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds and nearly one steal across 20.6 minutes per game during the 2025-26 campaign.
Beaty immediately proved her ability to be a facilitator last season. She recorded five or more assists in eight different contests, including tying her season high of six assists in six different contests. She finished third among all Cyclones last season with 90 total assists.
On top of her assist numbers, Beaty showed she could distribute while protecting the basketball. She concluded the season with a 1.8 assist to turnover ratio, ranking second among BIG 12 freshman and fourth among all freshmen in the nation who recorded three or more assists per game. She was also one of just five freshmen to rank inside the top 100 nationally. She also helped steer an Iowa State offense to a 1.58 assist to turnover ratio, which led the Big 12 and ranked third nationally.
Beaty scored a season-high 13 points against Sacred Heart, where she went 4-7 from the field and originally set her season-high of six assists. Her second double-digit performance came against Mercyhurst, where she finished with 11 points.
Beaty is the third transfer portal addition for the Bulldogs, as she joins rising senior Cali Smallwood and 2026 CUSA All-Freshman and Honorable Mention selection Macie Phifer as those who have entered the portal to Starkville. In addition to those three, the Bulldogs return their two top scorers from last season in the form of SEC All-Defensive and All-Freshman team member Madison Francis and Favour Nwaedozi, who finished as one of the four players in the SEC to average a double-double last season.
State also returns midseason addition Melissa Guillet and will see two incoming freshmen: Alabama's Gatorade Girl's Player of the Year, Lani Smallwood, and Tennessee's Miss Basketball, Andrea Flores.
