
MSU Hits the Road for A Pair of Ranked Matches

No. 44 Mississippi State women's tennis will hit the road for a pair of ranked SEC matchups this week, traveling to face No. 2 Auburn on March 26 before heading to Gainesville to take on No. 15 Florida on March 28.

Mississippi State enters the week following its fourth doubleheader sweep of the season, defeating No. 50 Arkansas and Southern Miss, 4-0. The win over Arkansas marked the Bulldogs' first ITA-ranked victory since defeating No. 58 Kentucky in 2022 and their first ranked SEC win since topping No. 31 Alabama in 2022.

State currently sits at No. 44 in the latest ITA team rankings. In doubles play, three Bulldog pairings are nationally ranked. Gianna Oboniye and Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz lead the way at No. 22, while Chiara Di Genova and Kempenaers-Pocz are ranked No. 55. Athina Pitta and Oboniye entered the spring rankings for the first time at No. 52.

Auburn enters the matchup following a loss to Georgia this past weekend. Mississippi State last faced the Tigers in Starkville a season ago, where Auburn earned a 4-0 victory.

Florida will face Alabama on March 26 before hosting Mississippi State on March 28 at 11 a.m. CT. The Bulldogs met the Gators last season in Starkville, with Florida claiming a 4-0 win.
