March 16, 2026 | Baseball
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's Tomas Valincius was named the SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week following his shutout performance at then fifth-ranked Arkansas on Saturday.
The seven-inning start was a career-long for the sophomore southpaw, who also matched his season-high with seven strikeouts. Valincius shared the honor with Auburn's Jake Marciano.
In five starts this season, the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder from Lockport, Illinois is 4-0 with a 1.30 ERA, 33 strikeouts and eight walks across 27 2/3 innings. Opposing teams are batting just .194 against him on the year.
Valincius is the first Diamond Dawg to claim a weekly conference award this season. He is the first MSU hurler to be named SEC Pitcher of the Week since Evan Siary claimed the honor on May 12, 2025.Â
The sixth-ranked Bulldogs return home to host Jackson State on Tuesday at 4 p.m.Â
